When most people think of a move, they think of a long distance move, or at least to another city far away. While moving locally can seem like an easier transition, many of the same steps still apply, even if you are just moving a block away. Here at RNR Moving, while we, of course, take great pride in our long-distance moving services, we do not discredit the unique challenges of a local move, and would like to offer some tips for making the transition easier.
Tip #1: Don’t forget to turn on the utilities
This may seem like an easy one to remember, but often, with so many other things on the mind of the mover, it can slip through the cracks. You should set aside a couple of hours to make sure all of your utility companies are aware of the move and everything will be good-to-go on moving day.
Tip #2: Is there a doctor in the house?
If your move is close enough to your old home, you may be able to keep the same doctor, but if you prefer one closer to your new residence, some time on the internet should do some good when looking for a new doctor. The same goes for auto repair shops, and even basic ones like grocery stores.
Tip #3: Check in with your family
Although your children may be able to attend the same school, be sure to check in with them, and your spouse often. Moving is a huge transition whether you are moving across the country or across town. The overall health of your family is the most important thing of all, and it is vital to ensure its well-being.
Whether you are moving 3,000 miles away or 30, let RNR Moving be your local and long-distance moving company!
